Overwhelmed Hong Kong Locals Shocked as Major Blaze Destroys Housing Complexes

University student a local student was among the many individuals drawn to the scene of a deadly blaze that ravaged significant parts of the eight-block Wang Fuk Court in the region's Tai Po district.
At least 36 residents have died in Wednesday's devastating blaze so far, with hundreds still unaccounted for, indicating that this figure will possibly rise.
"It's a catastrophe," the witness commented about the fire, noting that he had observed a deceased person being taken away from the location.

The resident noted that she had been given little guidance from the government on where to obtain help.
Several area community members had brought supplies to the victims - including numerous of blankets and heat packs.
When asked about their feelings regarding the blaze, residents stated that "local administration is ineffective" and that they were "profoundly heartbroken".
"We desire not to witness any more casualties," commented one.
An older female who lives in a unit within the damaged buildings explained she was away when the fire broke out but that she is concerned about her residence because it is not insured.
"I'm profoundly distressed that I have nowhere to return to now," she concluded.
