British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,β the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.β
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
